Welcome to Westwood Miniature Aussies. We are a small hobby breeder located in southern Virginia (on the VA/NC border) intent on bettering the breed; al of our dogs live in the home with us. My interest in Miniature Australian Shepherds began, more or less, when I was researching the standard Aussie. I came upon several sites claiming to breed a miniature version. A bit skeptical at first, it took some time before I decided to really see the dog for myself. I suppose that is when I became hooked. All the traits one would admire in an Aussie, but truly in a smaller package. These dogs are intelligent and extraordinarily loyal. I soon bought my first dog and not too long after, I just had to get another one. My interests in any breed of dog lies not only in the personality, but in the conformation to the breed standard. A well bred dog is truly a sight to behold.

I've raised numerous animals of all shapes and sizes, of all species and breeds. It was never enough to simply keep an animal as a pet; ever since I was a child I held the desire to work with and train the animals I owned. I've trained dogs in obedience for several years and currently I am working to train my dogs in agility - I've also helped others learn how to train their own dogs. It's truly a rewarding feat which strengthens the bond between pet and owner.

I would have to say my favorite breed to work with thus far has been the Miniature Aussie. They show an eagerness to learn and a willingness to obey that outperforms what I've seen in other dogs.

I am proud to say that the dogs I have now exhibit the best of both worlds and their combined genetics and personalities are destined to produce future puppies who will provide others the same love and enjoyment as mine provide me.

My dogs are bred for their strengths in conformation and personality; they are structurally sound, intelligent, and devoted companions. My male, though extraordinarily loyal, shows and undying love for all people (a bit uncharacteristic of the breed) and I hope to pass this characteristic along in future generations. My female demonstrates beauty and grace which comes from her strong confirmation to the breed standard.

For now, I only have one litter a year - but I remain active in training and have goals to start up classes as well as offer consultations and private lessons to owners of every breed.
